Lisa Solberg for Jiberish
Fresh off her current "Lift-Face" show presented by LA's 24HR PSYCHIC, Jiberish has partnered with artist Lisa Solberg to produce 10 limited-edition collaborative skate decks. The skate decks echo Solberg’s "Lift-Face" show that touches upon issues of self-identification through reflective surfaces. Using Gold Candy automotive paint, the pieces feature a mirrored surface that references LA’s Finish Fetish movement of the 1960s.
Lisa became a part of the Jiberish family in the early days as a Jiberish athlete and has remained a friend over the past eight years while expanding as an artist. After a number of nights out at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival we opened up discussion for a collaboration to debut in 2014.
We will celebrate the release of these decks during Sundance Film Festival with a party on Friday, January 17th from 7 pm to 10 pm at the Jiberish Vault store. The decks will be available for purchase at this time.
For the release party, please email us at RSVP@jiberish.com to be added to the guest list while space is available.
About Lisa Solberg: Lisa Solberg, born Chicago 1983, lives and works downtown Los Angeles. She received her BFA at University of Colorado at Boulder and also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. Solberg was included in the “Young Americans” exhibition at Gajah Gallery Singapore and has been in group exhibitions at Carmichael Gallery, Los Angeles, Holster Projects, London and Monster Children Gallery, Sydney. Her most recent solo show STALKER took place at THIS Gallery in Los Angeles.
A vigorous and fluid painter, Solberg’s work is purely expression. She engages in each piece intensively with spirit and energy and her large-scale paintings exercise what she calls “schizophrenic expression,” drawn from influences ranging from Cy Twombly to Michael Jordan to androgyne Andrej Pejic.
