The idea behind the "New York Natives - 1996" capsule collection was to imagine what Kith would have looked like if it had opened in 1996. The inspiration for each piece presented here comes straight from popular brands and musical influences from that era. The subject of interest to display the collection correctly is none other than legendary Brooklyn rapper AZ, a true New York Native. AZ brings us through the nostalgic lineup that takes design cues from familiar products during that time and have now been translated into a new range of apparel and accessories by Kith.
Starting off the collection are two Golden Bear varsity jackets ($400 USD), with leather sleeves on the burgundy colorway and calf nubuck sleeves on the orange. All the ribbing on both jackets are custom Navajo knits. The New York Native Washington Hooded Rugby ($125 USD) features tough fleece protection with a stitched in Indian head embroidery, a theme throughout the collection, along with Kith sport logo embroidery on the opposite arm. Bold New York Native applique is added to the front of each along with 1996 on the back. The New York Native Jefferson Striped Button-down shirt ($100 USD) is made with a medium weight cotton for durability. Sublimated print makes up the front while brown marbled buttons finish off the look. The Stanton Sweatpant ($88 USD) is an item that's been in the works for quite sometime. Now perfected, the pant uses a heavy weight fleece fabric with a tapered slim fit and a drawstring waist for adjustment. Logo NYN Crewnecks ($95 USD) arrive with a comfortable fleece featuring the New York Native Indian print logo on the front and 1996 on the back. Key details include raglan sleeves and ribbed side gussets. Wrapping up the collection are three New York Native Starter snapbacks ($45 USD), two with matching New York Native branding on the crown in raised embroidery and with the third using the Indian logo motif.
The full collection will land at the new Kith pop-up store at 66 Bleecker Street (between Broadway and Crosby) in Manhattan, as well as at Kith Brooklyn and KithNYC.com starting on Saturday, December 14th, 2013 at 11am EST. Due to limited availability on the collection, each customer is limited to one piece/size per product.
Each online purchase will also include a digital copy of the Kith x DJ Clark Kent "New York Natives 1996" Mixtape featuring songs by Jay-Z, 2Pac, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Foxy Brown, Too $hort, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G. and more.
Ronnie Fieg x Timberland
6" Inch 40 Below Capsule
Adjusted to meet contemporary requirements, the Ronnie Fieg x Timberland 6" 40 Below presents a fresh new image of a certified classic. Intelligently designed and beautifully crafted, the boot introduces a new level of considered luxury to the four-decade long legacy of Timberland. The Ronnie Fieg x Timberland 6" 40 Below comes in three colors. The first, a Butter Pecan nubuck ($250 USD), recalls the Classic 6" Timberland but surprises with every detail. Lined to the toe with sheepskin, the Butter Pecan boot reimagines the utilitarian Super Boot with an opulent, street savvy look. It is complemented by two sumptuous suede offerings - Cinnamon and Plum in color ($220 USD) - which keep the typical 200g primaloft lining associated with the Super Boot and are lined with a smooth, super-soft cow leather. All boots are fitted with the brass d-ring and hook hardwear and decorated with distinctive "RF" embossing on the lateral side below the collar and tongue. Dual-branded hangtags and Kith-branded lace locks finish the look.
In all, Fieg's design retains the traditional elements of the 40 Below-ultra-warm lining and that unmistakable stacked collar-and transforms it through contemporary, luxury fabrication. It is an example of recognizing the integral elements of a good product and bridging a gap between style and function. The RF x Timberland 6" 40 Below pulls from the unparalleled history of the New Hampshire-based brand and further entrenches the company in the trajectory of function-born street fashion. Highlighting the strengths of both parties, the boot is a triumph of true collaboration.
All three boots will launch exclusively at the new Kith pop-up shop at 66 Bleecker Street (between Broadway and Crosby), as well as at Kith Brooklyn and KithNYC.com on Saturday, December 14th at 11am EST. Due to the fact that each boot style is limited to only 250 pieces, there will be a strict 1 piece per product/size per customer.
