Hi -,

It's pure coincidence that the enrolment weekend for Root & Rise has fallen on Black Friday weekend.

And don't worry, this isn't an email lamenting the pro's and con's of the moral argument behind participating in Black Friday as a business owner.

My view is that you do you in a way that feels real and true to you.

I've seen some great examples of Black Friday offers which are clearly value-aligned and done in ways that feel like the brand through and through.

For example Deciem, completely shut-down yesterday. They've had a 23% discount running throughout the entire month of November encouraging their customers to sloooowww down.  So on Friday and in homage to their message they shut down sales on their website and stores. Pretty radical, right? Especially when I'm in Westfield, attempting to replenish my skincare only to see the store is cleared of display product and instead displaying an artist painting a huge canvas.

This act of values-aligned action had me smiling hard in appreciation (and going onto the website the next day to make my purchases). I love to see examples of brands baking their values into not just what they are saying but what they are doing

This is important because as much as our values serve as (and they really really do!). We also need to be mindful that in the process of integrating them into the way we show-up we aren't holding on to them so tightly that they become something that inhibits rather than liberates.

Right???

And what about the space for our values to develop and therefore take diverse iterative forms within the seasons of our work, life and business, as different things are required of and from them.

Its not just a matter of locating your values and that being the beginning and end.
They are the soul-giving foundation for so much more than that which is why taking a values-aligned and value-led is key to my creative coaching and mentoring approach and forms the backbone of what I'll be teaching and guiding creatives through in Root & Rise.

All the talk of Black Friday has also got me thinking about the way we buy.

One thing I know for sure is that I want people to bring their Critical Thinking to making decisions to purchase from me. Whether that be a corporate company looking to invest a pretty penny (or pounds) for my services through to someone thinking of joining my membership which is the most accessible of my offerings (please note I'm saying 'most accessible', I'm not labelling it as accessible because that really does depend on an individuals means).

I want you to think about it.

For it to be 'yes' that you've thought about, felt and feel is what you want.

Not one that you've got swept into. In the way 'some' Black Friday deals can have us doing.

I say 'some' very intentionally because my weekend's shopping list has been hella intentional…
  • Ordinary Skincare
  • Apple Airpods (I've had them 24 hours and already in love).
  • New shoes for the toddler.
  • Electric toothbrush

If Root and Rise feels likes its for you and you want it on your shopping list this weekend then I would love to have you. Have a read of the information page, hit me with any q's you have and let's go! Doors for this enrolment close on Sunday 28th November (tonight at midnight!)

Sending love,
