Dusk With An FL-D Filter by Bryan Peterson - PPSOP Founder
In my opinion, one of the only times to shoot cityscapes is at dusk. It’s easy and all you need is a tripod and a camera. But, let me suggest one more thing - a filter. Often, I suggest shooting with a FL-W filter to add a nice magenta tone to your dusk shots, but they are often difficult for Adorama to keep in stock.
Chris Hurtt and I recently worked through a solution while teaching a workshop in Singapore. We found that you can use a FL-D filter to get the same effect. First, let me show you the shot without the filter (image on left). This was shot on tripod and while it is a nice shot, it can be MUCH better.
The image on the right was shot with a FL-D filter and the difference is striking!
So, watch the below video to see me walk through this step by step. All you will need is a tripod and FL-D filter and you are all set. Also, want to add, we have a new class that is being offered ONLY in April. It is with the wonderful Deborah Sandidge and it’s called Long Exposure Creativity!
