Playing Our Part

Playing Our Part, Age NI’s joint initiative with BBC Northern Ireland launches today.  It’s all about encouraging people in Northern Ireland to play their part to help older relatives, friends and neighbours this winter.
Playing Our Part
With more than 350,000 older people living in our community it has never been more important to give a helping hand to those who may need our support.
With the support of BBC NI’s Barra Best and Kim Lenaghan, the appeal inspires people to think about the simple ways we can all help older people in our lives, by visiting or calling to say hello, helping out with some jobs around their house or just making some time for an older friend or relative.

Play your part and STOP fire

In Northern Ireland the people at greatest risk of fire are those aged over 65 years. Many live alone, some will have mobility issues or a sensory impairment whilst others will be smokers.

You can play your part and help to STOP fire. When you next visit the home of an older friend or relative, help them to test their smoke alarm and make sure that the battery is working.
