Older couple in winter

Dear Mr

Weather forecasters have predicted a cold snap in all regions of England until Sunday 15 January. Sleet, snow and severe frosts are forecast in some regions over the next few days.

Are you prepared?

This cold weather could increase the risk of life-threatening illnesses, especially among older people. The ideal temperature for a bedroom is 18°C (64°F) and 21°C (70°F) for a living room.

Read our practical winter wrapped up guide for some useful tips on heating your home, eating well and other resources to keep warm. Please share this information with older friends and relatives.

Please stay safe and warm.

Kind regards,
Age UK
