Welcome to October's edition of The loop / Y ddolen

It's been another busy month here at Age Cymru. Our Winter Celebration Grants are proving very popular, we've received lots of requests for information. We launched our Spread the Warmth campaign, which you can learn more about below.

EnvisAGE

Weve recently launched our eleventh edition of our publication called EnvisAGE - Towards an age friendly Wales, which explores issues affecting older people.

Weve invited experts to contribute articles about different elements that help create an age friendly community - transport, housing and the built environment.

Gwanwyn Community Grant Scheme

Applications for Gwanwyn's Community Grant Scheme are now open. Grants of up to 500 are available to fund events to take place as part of Gwanwyn Festival in May 2017. The grants assist organisations that wish to participate in the festival.
Were keen to include as many different kinds of cultural and community organisations as possible and participating organisations have ranged from theatre venues and museums to care homes and community centres.

Organisers contribute anything you can think of painting, photography, theatre, dance, creative writing, film, storytelling, workshops, performances, exhibitions, networking events, discussions and much much more.

You can find more information about the Community Grant Scheme by visiting the Gwanwyn website.

Spread the warmth

Spread the Warmth is a national campaign to raise awareness of the health risks cold weather and a drop in temperature can have on older people.

Each winter, one older person dies every 7 minutes from the cold.

Weve produced a free guide called Winter wrapped up. Our guide explains what you can do to get yourself and your home ready for winter and which organisations and services you can contact for more information and support. Click on the button below to download your copy.

We've lots of helpful information on our website about getting yourself and your home ready for Winter. Together, we can help people feel warm, healthy and safe during the winter months.

Inspirational story

Grandmother Millie recently got married aged 86 proving it's never too late to find love.

Millie's grandaughter shared the above photo saying, "This is my beautiful grandmother, Millie Taylor-Morrison, who got married this weekend aged 86 years old. This is testament that age is just a number and everyone can find love.
