cARTrefu: Exhibition Announcement

We're delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting work by all 12 of our cARTrefu artists at the Courtyard in Hereford from mid November 2018 – January 2019.

We’ll be launching our very own custom-built exhibition space, the cARTrefu cube; a cross-art form and immersive platform for our artists to present their provocative artwork, re-examining the idea of ‘home’.

We’d like to invite you to join us for our launch event at the Courtyard, Hereford, on Wednesday 14 November, 5.30 - 7.30pm.

To RSVP, or for further information, please email the cARTrefu Project Coordinator.

Gwanwyn Community Grant Scheme is now open

Gwanwyn operates a Community Grant Scheme to assist organisations that wish to participate in the festival.

We’re keen to include as many different kinds of cultural and community organisations as possible.
Participating organisations have ranged from theatre venues and museums to care homes and community centres.

Organisers contribute anything you can think of – painting, photography, theatre, dance, creative writing, film, storytelling, workshops, performances, exhibitions, networking events, discussions and much more.

How to apply

Please download our Information Pack from the Gwanwyn website. If you meet the criteria, you’ll need to register to apply for our grant.

Deadline for applications is Friday 7 December 2018. Successful recipients will be notified in January 2019 to deliver their event or series of events during the festival in May. Grants of up to £500 are available.

Winter Celebration grants

We're delighted our Winter Celebration grant programme for 2018 launched this month. We’re encouraging applications for grants of up to £150 from new and established groups, so that older people can come together for a social occasion between 1 November 2018 and 28 February 2019.

Social connectedness is so important for all of us at any age and stage of life but is particularly important as we enter later life. Social connections give us the opportunity for emotional support, material help, and information that we need to thrive and enjoy quality of life and good health.

The Winter Celebration grants programme is open to applicants from across Wales. It's hoped that through this, people will have an opportunity to meet new people who share their situation. In previous years, our grants helped to fund Christmas dinners, Chinese New Year celebrations and theatre trips and has enabled older people to establish new friendships and/or nurture existing ones.

Watch our video to see the impact our Winter Celebration grants can have. We awarded a grant to Chepstow Singing for Fun group who invited us along to film their celebration. It’s a heartwarming video and it was lovely to see, first hand, the difference our Winter Celebration grants make.

Shoebox appeal

We're appealing to you to fill a wrapped shoe box with Christmas gifts in our aim to help make Christmas a special time for older people living within care homes.

In line with our ethos ‘No one should have no one to turn to’ and many care home residents having no close family to visit over the festive period, we hope that having a gift to open may make a huge difference.

For more information on how you can get involved, please visit our website.
