Liberty London
The Liberty London department store has been a London landmark since 1875 when Athur Lasenby Liberty, the store's adventurous founder, laid plans for a London emporium filled with exotic fabrics and luxurious objects from distant lands. Determined to change the look of homeware and fashion, Arthur borrowed 2000 from his future father-in-law and bought half of 218a Regent Street to showcase his collection of ornaments, fabrics and objets d'art. Arthur's items were met with critical acclaim and by 1884 he was working with Costume Society founder Edward Willian Goodwin to create in-house apparel which challenged the fashions of Paris. The brand also forged strong relationships with many British designers, most famously the protagonists of the Art Nouveau movement.

In 1924 the Great Marlborough Street store opened. Designed by Edwin T. Hall and his son, Edwin S. Hall, the building is constructed from the timbers of two ancient battle ships: HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan. The opening of this store was a nod to Arthur's original dream of metaphorically docking a ship in the streets of London to share his precious items.

Fast forward almost 100 years, Liberty London's collection of fashion, textiles and accessories are as popular today as they were when they were first released. These rich and historical prints which have graced high fashion & accessories for decades have now been transformed into a stylish homeware collection, coveted by art & fashion lovers alike.
