In this edition of E-Speaks, learn how one non-profit is creating a world filled with kindness and acceptance through surfing and interactive therapies; get an inside look into how one autism mom uses the summer months to help her 11-year-old son continue on a path to reaching his full potential while still having fun and get some pool safety tips for children, parents and guardians from a trained lifeguard.

Gnome Surf: creating a wave of inclusivity and kindness for all

Gnome Surf: creating a wave of inclusivity and kindness

Chris Antao, Founder and Owner of Gnome Surf, had a vision when he opened the surf therapy camp in 2015: create a world with kindness, love and happiness regardless of socio-economic status. Today, Antao and his “Gnomies” are providing surf, art, eco and yoga therapies to thousands of children and families of all abilities. Autism Speaks is proud to provide grant funding to increase Gnome Surf services so that even more children with autism can participate. Our 2021 Local Impact Grants application opens today for organizations serving people with autism in their communities. Click here for more information and to apply!
