Solar Eclipse Essentials
On August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the sun will cross the entire continental United States. The last time this happened in the U.S. was 99 years ago, on June 8, 1918. It is an event that will attract thousands of people from all over the world. If you plan on viewing the eclipse, remember to be safe! Viewing with unprotected eyes can cause permanent damage to your vision. Regular sunglasses do not provide enough protection.

B&H is committed to providing you with great choices for your eyes and equipment. It makes no difference whether you are a casual viewer who just needs some basic solar glasses or a viewing veteran in the market for a new solar telescope–we want you to have the best experience possible for this historic event. After all, it won’t be until 2024 that you’ll get another chance.

In addition to providing Solar Eclipse 2017 viewing equipment, we put together a few helpful articles to help you prepare. For general information about the eclipse, including where the best viewing locations are, please refer to our “Mark Your Calendars: North American Solar Eclipse 2017” article. For a more detailed, scientific article, please refer to our “Solar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse Viewing 101”. Finally, to learn about the best solar viewing products, check out our Buying Guide, where solar shades, goggles, binoculars, telescopes, filters, and other accessories are discussed.

We are ready for any questions you may have. Call or Live Chat today – we dare you to stump us!
