As you likely guessed from the name, Positive Thinking Day is all about encouraging positive thoughts! Today, no negative thoughts are allowed!

Positive Thinking Day came about in 2003, thanks to an American entrepreneur. It’s a day to remember the positive things in our life, smile for them, be kind to ourselves and others, and spread happiness.

A day like that reminds us that negativity is a choice. We are the ones who have control over our thoughts and actions. And choosing to be pessimistic is a behavior you can turn around so you can find happiness in each fleeting moment.

Positive Thinking Day is something you should celebrate not just once a year, but every morning when you wake up. It can become your attitude towards life and can foster a more loving, optimistic, and as some studies have found, healthier YOU!

If you're not sure how to celebrate, here are some suggestions.

1. START TODAY AND EVERY DAY WITH POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS.
Affirmations are statements that you can repeat to yourself (out loud or in your head) that set the tone for the day. A few positive sentences said out loud while looking at yourself in the mirror (to make the effect even more powerful) can suddenly boost your mood, give you the confidence you need, and help you let go of negativity and smile instead. Statements like: 

I’m creative and capable.

I’m conscientious and confident in my work.

I’m worthy of love, success, and abundance.

You have specific reasons why you need a positive mindset. Write them all down and keep them in mind so you can be positive not just today, but any other day of the year.


3. READ AND SHARE INSPIRING QUOTES

Sometimes a single quote on success, motivation or positivity can brighten up our day and inspire us to be our best self.

Search for some online or via social media and don’t forget to share them with friends and followers when you find some powerful ones.


4. SMILE TO EVERYONE YOU MEET.

Smiling is contagious. That’s even science-backed.

When having a smile on your face during interactions with people, you make them respond with the same emotional state and smile back. Even if they’ve had a bad day so far, something small like that can turn it around.


5. WRITE DOWN THINGS YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR.

Notice how each thought becomes more real the moment you write it down

That’s because writing is an activity that helps us internalize what we put on paper and truly believe it. The more reasons to be grateful for that you list, the happier you’ll become even if nothing in your life is changing.
