Burning calories
in your sleep
When you sleep, your body and brain go into recovery mode. The energy needed for this restoration and recovery actually burns calories. This calorie-burning leads to weight loss.

On average, most of us lose 1-2 pounds when we're sleeping, which we usually gain when we eat and drink water the following day.

How much you burn, though, is determined in part by your personal health factors like your resting metabolic rate, your age, your genetics, and body fat.

But, it's possible to lose more and keep it off the next day. While factors like your genetics are outside of your control, there are a few things you can do throughout your day to increase the number of calories you burn in your sleep.

Find out how to amp up this weight loss and keep the weight off by calculating your resting metabolic rate, and changing a few of your daily habits.
