I've been on a "hormones" kick for the last few weeks and for good reason.

At the microscopic level, the physiological processes by which our bodies run are extraordinarily complex. At the same time, we are able to see them and understand what they are.

And one thing we know for certain: they are very exact.

Every cell, every pathway for the transport of blood, nutrients, the identification and removal of toxins, etc, etc, etc, have very exact functions. For every problem there is a solution, for every action an exact reaction. And your body knows these completely.

And they are followed to a t.

And hormones are key to this entire system.

Hormones are messenger chemicals in the body. They are key to muscle growth, fat loss, bone, ligament, tendon, skin and nerve growth, sleep, energy, mood, mental ability, reproduction, appetite and much, much more).

They deliver messages by hitting specific “receptors” on cells that are able to recognize them for what they are and receive and pass on their message into the cell.

But if these hormones are out of balance or deficient then your body won't be able to function as it's supposed to.

It will be hard to gain muscle in quantity, keep high energy levels, lose fat easily, and much more.

Because when these messenger chemicals don't exist in large enough quantity, or when there are too many of certain ones, our cells can be both not receiving the messages they need in some places, while be given messages to do things they shouldn't be in other places.

You could have all the nutrition in the world sitting in your body, but without hormones telling the cells when and how to use it… it would just sit there.

So let’s look at some more of these important hormones. Because if some are in low supply, or too high supply, or if your cells just won’t “listen” to them anymore… then you won’t get the gains you’re looking for no matter what you do or eat.

Growth Hormone (GH or HGH) is a key hormone that helps us build muscle and burn fat.

Your muscles are made of cells that have been fused together into muscle fibers. And on the outside of these fibers are things called satellite cells.

When you work out you damage cells in the muscle fibers. To fix this, your body releases Growth Hormone, Growth Factors (other hormones) and Testosterone. These tell the satellite cells to start replicating to both repair and replace damaged cells in the muscle, and also to add more cells, increasing the muscle fibers in size.
