According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents:

23,000 people die from accidents each year in the UK
Death rates have risen by 8%
People in the North are twice as likely to die as those in London

In fact:

The North-East sees 44 deaths per 100,000 people
London records just 19.5 per 100,000
