This year, I had the immense pleasure
of not just meeting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter Dr. Bernice King, but I also had the honor of receiving a prayer and blessing from her. As she held my hand, I could feel the energy traveling from her to me, and as she spoke her words so powerfully, they touched me at a time when I needed them most.
I happened to be in Atlanta at the time so I was very much surrounded by Dr. King's energy. It was such an affirmation that even though our loved ones may leave this plain before we are ready and sometimes before they are ready to do so, their spirits never leave us. Their love never dies, and the work they did while they were here serve as testimony to us of a life lived purposefully.
Dr. King's daughter Bernice lost her daddy before any baby girl should. It is sad enough when a child loses a parent to illness, but to lose one at the hands of hatred and evil is something no one should have to bear. Through it all, she has survived, and she carries a piece of him within her. Her father's love, the love of her mother, the support of a nation, the prayers and blessings and his continued shepherding have made a powerful child. One who can, in her way, continue the work of her father and her mother and share that strength, love of God, patience and faith that her father had.
