the charity: water community is working toward a big goal: bringing clean and safe water to 5,000 families.
And we'd love your help! But first, we want to introduce you to Helen, whose story beautifully illustrates the impact of your support.
BEFORE THE ARRIVAL OF CLEAN WATER IN 2009,
Helen would wake up before dawn and walk a mile and a half to the nearest water point, where she would wait in line with crowds of women. Hours later, she’d return home with 10 gallons of water for her family. It was never enough.
Everything changed with the arrival of clean water. Finally, Helen’s family could take care of all their needs: drinking, cooking, cleaning, gardening, laundry. Helen even had enough water to bathe whenever she wanted to, something she once considered a luxury.
“Now, I am beautiful,” she told us.
But the impact of clean water stretched far beyond her own life, and even that of her family. No longer burdened by constant worries over water, Helen was able to give her full attention to her extended family: her community of neighbors and friends.
