Hey ,

Do you ever wonder why your furbaby acts in a certain way? Here are some explanations for their common behaviours! Let's go ahead and learn more about their actions!

Dog Behaviours

Why do dogs chase their tails?

Dogs chase their tails because they are a bit bored; it's a way for them to have fun and expend some energy. This is especially true for puppies, who may not even realize that their tail is actually a part of their body, but see it as a toy.

There are different types of tail wags?

We always assume tail wags are signs of happiness and excitement. However, when dogs do low and fast tail wags when they are slightly anxious and this is how they express their nervous laugh. On the other hand, middle-level, fast, wide- wagging tails mean they are very excited and happy to see you!

Why do dogs sniff each other's butts?

When this happens, we usually ask our dogs to stop doing it, because it's impolite, but actually it helps the dog to know another dog's gender, age, what it eats, how healthy it is, and even what kind of mood they’re in. The chemicals also help it to know if other dogs are strangers or if they’ve met before. All of this helps dogs decide how they should behave.

Cat Behaviours

Why does my cat always sit on my laptop?

Cats love plopping themselves in unusual places like laptops because their thermonuclear zone (where they're not expending energy to cool off or get warm) is between 85 and 100 degrees. Cozy zones can help cats keep their body temperature nice and high.

Cat noises explained

  • Meowing is a greeting, a command, an objection, or an announcement.
  • Purring is usually a sign of contentment. Cats purr whenever they're happy, even while they're eating.
  • Chattering is the noises your cat makes when they're sitting in the window watching birds or squirrels.

Is it a good sign when my cat shows me it's belly?

Cats show you their bellies as a sign of trust. The stomach is a vulnerable area to attacks from other predators. Cats will instinctively avoid showing you their belly, especially if they don't feel 100% safe or secure.
