You'll make someone's day in the process
Hello and welcome back to Declutter Fast

I highly recommend Throwing Things Away.

Why? Because - when you don't throw things away, you spend LOTS of time deciding what to do with them.

Or you spend far too much time on the whole business of selling them.

The time you spend is worth a LOT more than the item is worth, usually!

But I admit, some really nice things are hard to just "trash."

That's especially true if someone could really use them.

So that leads to GIVING things away. I'm all for that.

But only if it's easy and quick. It shouldn't become a time-wasting mission that you should get paid for because of how much effort and hours are involved.

So here is one of my all-time favorite solutions to that.

Here is a quick and easy way to give something nice away and stop worrying about it.

And I have done this many times. I'm going to do it this week again.

What's the idea?

Take the item(s) to a laundromat. Put it on the big table for folding clothes. And tape a note to it that says:

"Free. Please Take."

People in laundromats are those in apartments and houses which have no way at home to launder their clothing.

Or they could be someone whose washing machine needs fixing.

They may be "poor" or they may not be.

Chances are they have kids and family.

As long as they see the sign that says "Free," then they know they aren't stealing something that was left there by mistake.

You may be thinking, "But what if this person just sells my item and makes ca sh??"

So what if they do - you just gave them a nice little gift because they had the time and inclination to sell the item.

It's not always worth packing your garage or storage place full of "stuff" for the idea of selling things at a yard sale yourself.

If it is, great. But if not - it's way better to generously get rid of an item ASAP.

And what better place than the local laundromat?? You probably live close to one. You can drop it off and be done with it in five seconds, and you can feel good about how you may brighten someone's day!

You've brightened YOUR day because you now have Less Stuff.

So enjoy the feeling - you have literally Lightened your Load (laundromat pun intended) and lessened your burden.

MORE on this tomorrow in Part Two.

And to truly free yourself, not just for a little while, but for good, it takes a mental shift that changes the way you look at all the tasks you want very much to do.
