Declutter in stages of readiness
Hello and welcome back to Declutter Fast

How can you know what to let go?

You don't have to throw out everything all at once.

You can declutter in stages of readiness.

The more you work at it, the easier it will be to start letting go of more stuff.

There may be stuff you haven't looked at or dealt with in years.

You can start a plan to go through those things - either quickly, or a little at a time.

Only you can be the final judge of what to keep and what to discard, no matter what.

There ARE some objects that should be held on to, especially when they have a very important sentimental place in your heart. These things are NOT clutter.

Holding on to real clutter increases your stress.

From time to time, re-examine each "corner" of your life - especially your belongings.

Here's what to ask yourself:

"Is this object adding joy and good things to my life, or is its upkeep and maintenance adding to my stress?

"Since I'm not going to 'take it with me' when I leave this earth, just exactly how important is it?

"Can this be stored out of sight to break my attachment to it, so that eventually I'll be able to get rid of it? Or can I let go of this right now?"

P.S. From readers:

This has caught me stashing my mail in a box, covering the ottoman, and even stacked up on the entry-way table...I am really ashamed! I'm going to work on this problem today until its all cleared up, (I can do this because I'm snowed in and can't get to work, hehehe). Thanks for this great idea! - M.

I always love your suggestions and creative ideas, they are a welcome to me! - T.

Thank you very much for the newsletter. It helps a lot. I will take 30 minutes a day and do exactly what you said. You are truly amazing! Thank you again. - B.

Excellent. I'll start tonight. Having a limited time is a great idea. - Cindy

I love reading your emails. I still haven't gotten your book, but I will! I have lots to do in my home as far as decluttering and I am a senior adult so I don't move too quickly anymore. Please keep me in your prayers, thank you and God bless. - M
