Hello and welcome back to Declutter Fast
When the end of the year rolls around again...
Take stock.
Sit down with your morning coffee (I always do - in my case it's espresso, maybe you too)...
And make some lists!
Do this on real paper with a pen, instead of on the phone or computer.
When your hands work with the pen and paper, making a list becomes much more
physical than if you are typing on a sceen.
That makes it affect your mind more directly, in my opinion.
Write down the date and the year at the top, and title your page whatever you want.
Write down your goals of everything you want to get done within the next 6 months, and the following 6 months.
I put these goals into categories: Health, House, and Work.
I might add other categories such as Cars or Family or Personal.
The House and Work categories break down into subcategories too.
For my House goals, I have a list, from painting to roof repair.
Now one thing I've learned about goals is that it's a bad idea to do the following:
1. Force yourself to do something, and
2. Feel terrible about what you don't get done.
It's like diets. Diets don't work; they only backfire because your body fights against being forced or deprived.
It's the same with Goals.
Making a list, and making the lists regularly, really helps show you where you are.
Lists show you what you're getting done and what's not getting done.
Lists lay out the situation and simplify your steps.
So in the next week or so take stock and have a lovely time sitting and writing out your lists!
Then save them in a special place that you keep handy. And look at your list every month or even more often.
As for me, I rewrite my lists a LOT.
It's addicting and inspiring.
It makes my tasks crystal clear.
Making lists is not the same as doing the tasks - but over time, making lists spurs you on to get things crossed off your list!
I write a daily and weekly list too; sometimes a weekend list.
Talk to you next time!
