Hello and welcome back to Declutter Fast

Decluttering your home is one of the greatest things you'll ever do for yourself and your family.

But if you just keep your goals in your mind, it takes much longer.

If you just write your goals on a list, it takes much longer.

Don't get me wrong - the list is ultra important. Thinking about decluttering is also ultra important.

Both of these actions really do lead to getting it done.

But it might take longer than you want - unless you do this:

You must "enter the fray" and do battle with clutter.

You must actually start decluttering.

If you make mistakes along the way, that's fine, because....

Only after you go into battle will you see how you personally fight best!

You'll learn your own quirks. You'll get more done.

You'll rearrange your original plan.

For example: Maybe at first you start out by trying a certain decluttering strategy.

Only by trying that method do you find out if it works for you.

Once you start and see how it goes, then maybe you put your own twist on the strategy. Or maybe you decide to try out another way.

That's making progress. And you only make real progress once you actually start.

Clutter is a battle you will win. Getting started refines your efforts and makes them better and better.

So keep on planning, making lists, and continue your efforts at decluttering.

It's great to have the rooms in your home completely workable and simple!

Declutter Fast: How To Get Your Home In Order Almost Immediately

P.S. From readers:

Mimi, I had a nice house at one time; then my hoarding mother started downsizing and gave lots to me.

Her instructions were to keep everything. Guilt immobilized me. I am now saying to myself, "It's my life. How do I want to live it?"

Life is short. I need to live it in happiness. I want to have my home as a gathering place for fun again.

My children are embarrassed and go to their friends' homes. I used to be a stopping place for my friends.

I just got 2 items free-cycled. I got half the living room cleared.

I will be getting rid of anything that doesn't make me relax and give me a calm, peaceful place again.

From Mimi:

What a great way to put this - get rid of anything that doesn't make you relax and give you a calm, peaceful place! I wish you the best in your decluttering project!

And thanks for sharing this great reminder: "It's my life. How do I want to live it?"

Declutter Fast has helped and inspired tens of thousands of people to declutter their homes since 2006. Become free of clutter and start living the way that inspires you.
