When a family of four took an apartment in a newly constructed luxury high-rise in Brooklyn Heights, they presented interior designer Laurie Blumenfeld with a blank slate.

“We determined through initial meetings that they gravitate toward organic shapes and soft, watercolor hues,” she recalls. “We also determined that they wanted to support local Brooklyn resources. This made Eskayel the perfect match!”

The building’s flatiron shape forced the designer to embrace unusual angles and custom solutions. “I designed several bespoke pieces to work within the confines of funky-shaped rooms that were definitely not perfect squares,” she says.

In the living room, a custom colored rug in the Portico pattern mimics the curves of a crescent-shaped sofa and bespoke bar unit.

Laurie swathed the foyer in Lily’s View mural wallpaper. “Because they’re so high up in the clouds, I thought it would be fun to use wallpaper that emulated their view.”

Galileo Glass pillows provide a soft expression of the apartment’s fluid, organic aesthetic.
