Breaking Up With the Leaderboard
The 2017 CrossFit Open starts TODAY. If you are one of the hundreds of thousands of people who has registered, you are about to start an amazing five-week competition that will challenge your fitness and bring you closer to your beloved CrossFit community.

The Open will also test your mental toughness as it exposes your weaknesses and ranks every one of your performances on the leaderboard for the world to see. No pressure, right? But it's not the rest of the world that you need to focus on, it's that little voice inside your own head that can make or break you. That little voice can make the next five weeks an incredibly fun and empowering experience, or it can make it stressful and downright miserable.

Three-time CrossFit Games competitor, April Lowe has an idea. Let's break up with the leaderboard. In her guest blog, April shares here experiences and advice on overcoming the pressure of the leaderboard and having fun while remaining competitive. Whether you are an elite athlete or "causal CrossFitter", it can be extremely difficult to gauge your performance without being overly critical. April has found a solution that has worked wonders for her, and we hope it can help you too!

"I don’t think I fully appreciated how much energy I wasted over the years obsessing over the leaderboard, beating myself up because of where I was placed or because I didn’t beat an athlete I thought I should have beaten in a workout. I WASTED ENERGY ON THINGS I COULD NOT CONTROL." - April Lowe
