No Social Sundays - The One Day Fast To Reclaim Your Time by Kaite Boue

We’ve featured a lot of advice to spend less time on your phone. Admittedly, much of the previously featured advice required larger habit shifts. That’s why we like this post by social media manager Katie Boué that is less overwhelming and more easily implementable.

How To Disarm Internal Triggers of Distractions by Nir Eyal

Despite best intentions to single task, we find it all too easy to check that incoming email, text, or read an article mid task. Just a few minutes turns into tens of minutes and the original task winds up taking much longer than originally intended (or punted to the next day). Cue beating ourselves up for procrastinating. Nir Eyal, behavioral investigator and author of the recent book Indistractable, shows us how to break this cycle.

Seth Godin x Brian Koppelman: The Judge in Your Head

Seth Godin always delivers on any medium he’s on, but this podcast with Showtime’s Billions creator Brian Koppelman is especially good. In this episode, he details on acting like a professional, not compromising your ethics within your vocation, and the challenge of wrestling with the critical voice in your head.

From Zero Points To HighSchool Basketball Starter: A 2-Year "Menu" of Improvement by Kobe Bryant

Regarded as one of the best NBA players of all time, Kobe Bryant used to be terrible at basketball. Like zero points terrible. Gaining valuable words from his father and a 2-year “menu,” Kobe’s reign of dominating basketball began.

The world is five per cent greener now than it was two decades ago, according to a study by Nasa. The US space agency claims that leaf cover on Earth has increased by two million square miles since the early 2000s, which is roughly equivalent to the area covered by the Amazon rainforest. [source]

Five Minute Journal

I started using your 5 minute journal a couple of years ago, and it has really made a difference for me. My favourite part is the 3 things that would make today great. Writing down those 3 things has enabled me to do things I never imagined I could do!

I work as a full time cancer researcher at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. My colleagues and I have for a long time been very unhappy with how the system currently works when it comes to sharing our research findings. I have complained about it for many years, but at least in part due to the 5 minute journal I came up with an idea to change how the system works.

It may sound crazy to you, but researchers pay the journals to publish their work. I wanted to change this, and instead actually pay the scientists for what they do. So I came up with a royalty based system, and furthermore, also started making different versions of the articles to make them more popular. Besides from the more technical normal version that is meant for scientists, I started translating what the scientists say into a language that everyone can understand. I even started making cartoons, so also kids can understand the latest scientific findings (or at least get the overall picture).

--> Make Your Day Great. Become happier.
