A well of dark cherry, black currant and blackberry fruit makes this red sumptuous and inviting. Fresh earth, thyme and rosemary accents add depth. A mineral element emerges on the long finish. Shows fine balance overall. Merlot, Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Syrah.
This shows real purity of fruit with currants and blackberries, complementing the orange-peel and stone character. Full body, firm and intense tannins with focus and purity that I really love. This needs four to five years to come together, but already a winner.
Famiglia Castellani - Chianti Classico Riserva 2015
James Suckling 93 Point
A plummy Chianti Classico that also shows plenty of brambleberries and dark cherries. Chocolate and hazelnut undertones. Full-bodied with some good structure on the palate and a chewy finish.
