If you change nothing, nothing will change.

Hi there,

When it comes to electronic waste, we sound like a broken record. Why? Because it’s a big f**ing problem.

E-waste is stacking up. At over 54 million tons each year, that’s about 15 pounds for every person on Earth.

Resources are dwindling, too. Over $21 billion worth of precious metals are used annually for electronics. Yet only 15% is recovered! Mountains of valuable material are being trashed while negative health and environmental effects hit staggering new levels.

There’s no denying it. Education and action on e-waste is urgent

Did you know that recycling one ton of plastic created from e-waste requires 90% less energy and generates three tons less CO2 emissions than new plastic production? We can slash pollution levels simply from recycling e-waste plastics.

Here’s the rub. Most countries have limited e-waste recycling systems. Others have none at all. Unfortunately, companies flooding communities with electronics are not being held accountable for their end-of-life disposal.

This Summer, let’s work to normalize action on e-waste. Today, the One-for-One Tech Recovery Project makes it easy for you to get involved from home. Next, we’re expanding the program by introducing drop-off locations at retail stores nationwide. Stay tuned for more details.

E-waste is a scandal. But a preventable one. From building better products to improving repair, ensuring electronics stay in circulation is the best solution.

Recycling alone won’t solve everything. For now, it’s an action we must all take.

Best,

Ross, Kevin, & Jon
