On the Web

One evening a couple of weeks ago, after getting my kids to sleep and opening up a bottle of wine, I found myself at my computer eager to find some inspiration and new discoveries on the web. It's all so vast that we decided to narrow it down to some recently found sites after much research. Obviously, we still love our regulars like the FT and HuffPo for news, Life+Times for perusal, previously mentioned clothing sites, food sites/blogs like Food52 and What Katie Ate, and Jessica Seinfeld's pinterest page (!) but here are some we found and are discovering/loving.

From interiors, to recipes, to design, to people who fascinate - anything and everything web and app-wise that inspires and motivates.

A site for anyone with wanderlust written and photographed by the people who actually get up and wander. A true source of genuine travel recommendations from Hong Kong, to Rome, to… Azerbaijan.

Sight Unseen

Two ex-I.D. magazine editors set out to make design accessible. They go behind the scenes and visit the homes and studios of some of the coolest creatives going.

Into The Gloss

Emily Weiss started ITG while working at Condé Nast, blogging early in the morning before work each day. Since then, the site has evolved and grown, but we still get to peek into interesting and beautiful people’s very curated daily routines and find out what’s on their 'top shelf'. From Isabel Marant to Iris Apfel – this is about people with true personal (beauty) style.

Katy Elliott

An ex-House & Garden and Domino editor leaves the city to restore her “this old house” in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Over the years, we’ve followed her through each step of the way. She has impeccable taste, and now a baby named Frances (for whose nursery she offers lots of ideas.)

Refinery29 London

We’ve been fans of R29’s fashion, interiors, news, etc coverage for many years and now they’ve landed in London. We’re excited to see what they have in store for us locals.

Clé Privée

The founding team at the somewhat mysterious Clé Privée invested two years travelling the world, trying and testing each and every hotel and escape curated on the site. Buy one of their keys as a gift for a friend (or yourself) for access to their edited selection of truly unique and luxurious hotels, special escapes, and their finds from internationally recognized and emerging artists. We recommend spending some time clicking around this elusive site to get a good sense of it.

The Babycakes NYC app

We’ve been big fans of Erin McKenna’s healthy spins on sugary classics since the beginning and now her baking philosophy comes to life on her iPhone/iPad app. She breaks down her recipes with friends like Christina Tosi, Kiernan Shipka and many others. It’s pretty adorable. More fun videos coming later this month.

Closet Visit

Two words: closet voyeurism. What could be better?

P.S. Marlien Rentmeester (left) has an awesome fashion blog, too, named Le Catch.

The Book Cover Archive

Simply put, a feast for the eyes in the form of book covers galore. Judging a book by its cover in the best way.

The Art of the Title

Giving the movie title sequence its place as a true art. It’s worth spending some leisure time just taking pleasure in watching a few.

Well + Good NYC

A site that encapsulates the NYC exercise and fitness craze to a T with all kinds of healthy tips, food and activities at home, around the city and beyond.

A true resource for anyone looking to learn about investing, saving and spending money wisely – whether you’re a single 20-something, or a mother/householder or a small business owner, or...

Sacramento Street

Caitlin Flemming blogs on interiors with a few fun glimpses of what she wears (or would like to), how she entertains and what she’s cooking. It's fun to see what inspires her and how she applies it to her own home.

Bon Appétit

Bon Appétit just gets cooler every week. Not only a recipe resource but a source of daily entertainment for the foodie.

Lottie + Doof

Beautiful food photography with a format that pleases the eye. Not to mention, great recipes made from whole foods.

Well done photo-guided recipes on this Brazilian cooking blog.

A 17-year-old named Nick D'Aloisio came up with this genius free iPhone app. Choose your favorite news sources and it will present summarized content tailored to your interests. Our CEO thinks it's so cool that he invested in the company.

An app for kids to download on an iPod/iPhone and insert into the fuzzy costume it goes with. The first Smart Toy ® of its kind, it comes to life as a stuffed animal telling stories, jokes, and providing learning activities.

Architecture for Dogs

For the dog lover. If you missed this at Design Miami last week, check out the site, which is pretty clever.

Tumblrs we lv

A selection of tumblrs we love. Some are funny and some are just plain cool.

Kanye Wes

Wes Anderson meets Kanye West.

Particularly like the clean, minimal aesthetic of this food tumblr.

The Brick House

Love the aesthetic of these interiors.

The funniest gifs on the web.

Awesome People Hanging Out Together

The title says it all. It’s addictive.

Art Online

With so many online art enterprises out there, here are just a few of our favorites.

Contemporary Art Daily

The best way to keep current with the art world.

Exhibition A

A small and tightly curated selection of prints for purchase by great artists including Mark Borthwick, André Saraiva, Ed Templeton, Richard Prince and more.

Paddle 8

Making benefit and themed auctions accessible, this is a beautifully designed site offering work by today's leading artists. There's lots more to come from this site. For now, check out their gif exhibition here.

Cool new app (for iPhone/iPad) selling art but also showing each artist’s process and inspiration. Also available as a web app.
