many dogs love to be brushed, but some make it very clear that they hate all the brushing fuss. to start with, it is beneficial to positively introduce brushing to dogs when they are puppies. we recommend starting slowly with positive words and phrases | here are three ways to achieve a happy-at-home or in-salon brushing experience for everyone | before you even start, let your dog make friends with the brush. a quick sniff. start by placing the brush on the floor. put treats or their favourite toys beside the brush, this will encourage your dog to investigate this rather interesting new thing in their own time | next, work on reaching out with the brush near your dog. start to lightly stroke your dog with the edge of the bristles. each time this successfully happens, treat your dog with a treat and praise. take extra care near the face, ears, and intimate areas | when your dog has become relaxed with stage 2, you can begin to brush for several strokes in a row
