SUNSET BEACH, Oahu, Hawaii – (Wednesday, October 30, 2019) - After two days of excellent XL surf at world-famous Sunset Beach, the Vans Pro presented by HIC has been called back ON for Finals Day in solid 8-10ft. waves from the NW with 15ft.+ faces and light SE offshore winds. 

"Finals day and the surf is still pumping at Sunset," said Marty Thomas, WSL Hawaii/Tahiti Nui Competition Director. "We're starting at 8:00am and will crown a winner and Regional Champion around 3:30pm today, it's going to be an epic day of surfing to finish the Vans Pro." 

The official local qualifier into the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the Vans Pro presented by HIC is a World Surf League (WSL) Men's Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 event that is regarded as the most important competition for the WSL Hawaii/Tahiti Nui region. With qualification, points and prestige on the line, a good result could mean a boost in ratings toward Championship Tour (CT) qualification and a breakthrough into surfing's longest-running and most prestigious heritage series.

Still alive in the competition is defending event winner Kiron Jabour (HAW), who will compete in Round 4 Heat 4, along with four more former Vans Pro winners: Ezekiel Lau (HAW) in Round 3 Heat 16, Billy Kemper (HAW) and Evan Valiere (HAW) in Round 4 Heat 4, and Ian Walsh (HAW) in Round 4 Heat 6. International VIPs include Jack Robinson (AUS) in Round 4 Heat 3, Ethan Ewing (AUS) in Round 4 Heat 7 and Gatien Delahaye (FRA) in Round 4 Heat 8.

The Vans Pro is the official local qualifying event into the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, which takes place from November 13 - December 20, 2019, on the North Shore of Oahu.
