Escaping the REVERSE mount!

Email sent: Aug 7, 2020 11:11am

Is this your brand on Milled? You can claim it.

The reverse mount is when you're sitting on your opponent's belly facing his legs, your feet planted on the floor for balance, and your arms holding his legs up in the air.

But if you're caught on the bottom of this same position then you're going to suffer...

To start with, your opponent is placing a tremendous amount of pressure on your diaphragm, which makes it hard to breath.

And from here he also has lots of entries to kneebars, heel hooks, leg laces, and other submissions available to him.

And then, compounding the problem, is the fact that it's not a very common position, meaning that most people don't have a lot of experience defending and escaping it.

So let's give you a technique to get you out of here...

Escaping the reverse mount is essentially a two step process...

  1. Freeing your legs and getting them to the floor, and
  2. Getting ready to move your hips the instant your opponent decides to shift his weight to attack or go to another position

In this 3:16 video on my blog I give you a quick breakdown of how to escape the reverse mount.

My coach and friend Erik Paulson showed me this move in the early 2000's, and it has saved me numerous times since then!
