For over 600 years the town of Thiers, France has been the epicenter of European knifemaking. And since 1870, Au Sabot has been one of the most revered knifemakers in the region, boasting a wide range of exemplary knives. Among them, L’Armora tool blade with a rich history and broad utility. The sheepsfoot-style blade’s rounded end is said to have been the only kind allowed aboard ships in the 19th and early 20th century (thanks to it being a lot less stabby than other pointy-ended implements). But in all reality, the sheer utility and staggering strength of the blade design is probably what made it so popular with sailors—and now us, too. SHOP NOW

The story behind Vetra is a doozy. It starts back in 1929, when Edouard Beerens began building humble and hardworking men’s garments. Impressed with his craftsmanship, the French Army enlisted him to construct uniforms at the start of WWII, but the Nazis had the same idea. Refusing to work for them, Beerens defiantly destroyed all but one of his machines and fled Northern France. After avoiding the Gestapo for years (all while sewing uniforms for the Resistance), the company continued to grow as his daughter, son, and then grandson all took up the family business. Now located in Paris, they’re a workwear powerhouse still using their legendary craftsmanship to build pieces like the Chore Coat and Herringbone Blazer—easygoing staples with a helluva history. SHOP NOW
