The first Monday in September is designated as Labor Day in the United States. Labor Day is a national holiday in the US that honours the accomplishments and economic contributions of the American labour movement. The USA as a whole enjoys celebrating it. Canada furthermore celebrates Labor Day on the same day as the US. The Central Labor Union approved the Labor Day concept in 1882, and a committee was chosen to plan the celebrations. Thus, on September 5, 1882, the first Labor Day was observed in New York City. Thus, it didn't take long for a state bill to be created, which ultimately resulted in the United States Congress enacting an act that made Labor Day a federal holiday in June of 1894.
