Ellumiglow :: Difference In Laser Wire Profiles
Welcome To Ellumiglow's Inner Circle Program. View this message online How To Use Laser Wire™ products. Now that you have a better idea of what Laser Wire is, let's dive into how to use it. You now know about the two main profiles of Laser Wire; the standard, and "ICE". Did you know the standard profile actually comes in 3 different diffusion lengths? More Laser Wire™ Info Choose Your Laser Wire Depending on how you are using Laser Wire™, you can get wildly different results. The first step to think about it what length do you need? Are you using a little or a lot?Short LengthIf you plan to use than 2M (6.2ft) or less, we recommend our "SUPER POP" profile for laser wire. This is our brightest profile and jaw dropping in nearly any environment, including daylight. Medium LengthUsing between 2M and 8M (26ft), we recommend the most common "POP" profile. This length has a great brightness throughout the line, around 1000cd/m, and can be seen in medium lit rooms and looks spectacular in darkness. Long LengthUsing 8M to 15M (48.75ft), we recommend the "ACCENT" profile. This length is about half the brightness (400-500cd/m) of the POP profile, but gives a greater diffusion length. It is not recommended to be used in well lit environments, but does look great at night. Color Changing Possibilities. Did you know that Laser Wire™ can give the appearance of changing colors? By using different colored laser modules on each end, you can create beautiful gradients, unlock never before seen colors, or even have light change before your very eyes! The first email we sent explained how laser wire works. Elaborating on this concept, the longer the Laser Wire™ cable, the more the light energy is diminished. However if there is a laser module on the opposite end as well, it doubles up the light energy creating a more uniform appearance, as well as unlocks the color changing effects. As a rule of thumb, the longer the wire, the more of a gradient you will notice. In the image above, the gradient shown is a 1M length of SUPER POP, with a Blue OpalDrive module on one end, and a Red on the opposite. Green and Blue modules combined create beautiful seafoam effects, and Red and Green make stunning Green to Yellow/Orange creations. Let's Talk Power. How do you plan to power it?OpalDrive has two modes, "Battery" and "Install" mode. Battery mode works as you might expect and contains a rechargeable lithium ion battery capable of powering the wire for long periods of time. The Blue and Green OpalDrive modules power for about 8-12 Hours, and the Red module runs on battery mode for a whopping 20-40 hours!Install Mode gives the ability to power your Laser Wire™ from a number of different sources. We make a specialized cable that allows you to plug the OpalDrive Laser module into a standard USB outlet, computer or external USB Battery. Also, because install mode takes a 5V input and runs on PWM, we made this to be very fun and interactive. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, DMX and remote dimmers are just a few options.
