Why It's Okay To Have Wheat On Keto... As Long As It's THIS Specific Type Of Wheat!

Hey...

I'm writing this because since the launch of our Keto Bread...

There seems to be confusion around why there's wheat in our bread!

This seems to have upset some people - which is perfectly understandable...

But as a keto company with a long-term vision, run by two Keto-ers (myself and Michael)...

We'd never create anything that WASN'T Keto friendly!

But I realize that we could explain the bread a little more.

Specifically on why the ingredients list shows "Vital Wheat Gluten" - and why we say it's okay to have it on keto.

So let's start with wheat gluten is:

Gluten is a protein that's inside wheat.

It's very useful when making keto recipes because it's what gives the dough the elastic, stretchy feel.

Specifically, we use an ingredient called Vital Wheat Gluten.

And when it's made, the extraction process uses water to activate the gluten (and separate it from all the other parts of the wheat).

Then once separated from the wheat, what's left is PROTEIN (A.K.A. gluten) - which we all know - protein is okay to have on keto, as long as it's within moderation.

Because remember, gluten is protein that's found inside wheat.

And when all the other parts of the wheat are removed...

It results in an extremely low carb count inside the Vital Wheat Gluten!

(Although, if you have a gluten allergy - I wouldn't recommend Keto Bread).

And the reason the trace ingredients contain "wheat" (see the image below)...

Is because we're required to disclose this due to allergens - since the Vital Wheat Gluten extraction process will contain some tiny trace elements of wheat.

But the trace is so small, it's nowhere near enough to kick you out of Ketosis.

Ingredients

All in all... The most tragic thing is the confusion that the name "Vital Wheat Gluten" causes.

Because the name itself contains "wheat" - it tricks keto-ers into thinking that it's carb-based.

When in reality, the focus should be on the word "gluten" - which means it's a protein, not a carb.

But let's not judge a book by its cover - because Vital Wheat Gluten is protein-based, low-carb friendly and very filling!

Not to mention, it lets us make a delicious zero net carb bread that our Kiss My Keto family can enjoy.

So while some people might dig in their heels and say:

"Absolutely no wheat is allowed on Keto!"

The reality is, that's an opinion.

As far as science and your body are concerned...

Vital Wheat Gluten isn't actually a carb - it is a protein.

And as you may know - as long as protein is taken in moderation, it's okay to have it on keto.

Plus, trace amounts of wheat that come from the Vital Wheat Gluten extraction process, is nowhere near enough to kick you out of Ketosis or spike your blood sugar.

Now, we totally respect people's decisions on how they choose to live their keto lifestyles...

(E.g. if they don't want anything that even resembles "wheat").

That's perfectly fine - and if you feel this way and accidentally ordered Keto Bread...

Please let our customer service team know and we'll refund you immediately!

I hope this cleared up some of the confusion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Keto Bread

How Does Keto Bread Get Delivered To Me? And How Does It Stay Fresh?

When you order Keto Bread - your loaves get shipped out, straight to your doorstep (bread ships out on Mondays & Tuesdays).

(Each batch is baked on a weekly basis and stored frozen to keep it fresh. The bread thaws out on the way to your house).

From there - you can eat it within a week. Or you can store it in your freezer to extend the shelf life to 6 months.

How Does Keto Bread Stay Low In Carbs?

The secret is inside the ingredients. Keto Bread is made from low-carb, fibrous ingredients like Oat Fiber and sourdough.

And as you may already know, fibers don’t get absorbed by your body, meaning it doesn’t count as a carb on Keto! That’s how each serving of Keto Bread is just 2g net carbs or less.

As for the "wheat gluten" listed in the ingredients - please note that gluten is a protein, not a carb! And as you may know, protein is okay to have on Keto, as long as it's in moderation.
