Librio goes down under

We’re very excited to announce that we now have a fifth print partner to help us deliver our books as quickly and as environmentally friendly-ly as possible. To add to US, UK, Germany and Switzerland, we now print in Australia 🇦🇺.

If you know a little Vegemite-lover who’d love a Librio book, now it’ll be beautifully printed and dispatched from sunny Melbourne rather than on the other side of the planet.

It all came about after a conversation Printer Bear had with his cousin, Printer Koala a couple of months ago. You can read the full transcript of the call at the bottom of this mail, but here’s an excerpt:

[…]
Printer Koala 🐨: Aw, I dunno mate, it’s gonna cost ya, Jimmy.
Printer Bear 🐻: What do you mean it’s gonna cost us? It’s for Librio, think of the kids, Barry.
🐨: It’s still gonna cost you, Jimbo... You know those bear packages that you send your books to the little kiddies in?
🐻: The ones with my face on it? Those are amazing, aren’t they?
🐨: Yeah, the ones with your face on it. Well, if we use Uncle Kevin’s print shop for your books, then I want…

G'day Librio

Tips for little people starting school

And, just like that, all of those weeks of needing to keep your little ones entertained during the summer holidays are over and it’s suddenly back to school!

For some, it’ll be a case of going into a new school year and for others it’ll be the very first time they’ve ever gone to school. This can be both exciting and emotional in equal measure, and with that in mind, in this month’s blog-post we’ve come up with a few tips and ideas which we hope will help the ‘Big Day’ go that much smoother.

Happy new school year to all parents and little ones from all of us here at Librio!

Librio Library #26 - The Koala Who Could - Rachel Bright & Jim Field

Every month, we introduce one of our favourite books from Librio's own library, which we use as inspiration for creating our own books.

This has been a Librio favourite for several years and what better time to induct it to the Librio Library hall of fame than in the same email as our Australia launch?

Arguably the best of the wonderful series of books by Rachel Bright and Jim Field, this is a lovely tale, fun to read and wonderful to look at. One of our most-read bedtime books is something you certainly need in your library if it isn’t there yet.

What really went down between Printer Bear and Printer Koala:

Printer Bear 🐻: Hello? Barry? Can you hear me?
Printer Koala 🐨: G’day mate, I think you’re on mute, Jimmy.
🐻: I can hear you. Can you hear me?
🐨: Press the unmute button, Jimmy! YOU’RE ON MUTE! (puts paws in considerably sized ears)
🐻: Oh, right, stupid thing. Right, how about now? Can you hear me, Barry?
🐨: Clear as mud, Jimmy. How’s it goin’?
🐻: It’s James. All good, cheers. Look, Barry, we’ve got a problem. We’ve sold thousands of books to people down under and the kids love them, but it takes forever for Ms. Owl and her team to get them to the other side of the world. Uncle Kevin’s got a print shop near Melbourne, hasn’t he? Can we produce our books there?
🐨: Aw, I dunno mate, it’s gonna cost ya.
🐻: What do you mean it’s gonna cost us? It’s for Librio, think of the kids, Barry.
🐨: It’s still gonna cost you, Jimbo ... You know those bear packages that you send your books to the little kiddies in?
🐻: The ones with my face on it? Those are amazing, aren’t they?
🐨: Yeah, the ones with your face on it. Well, if we use Uncle Kevin’s print shop for your books ... then I want my face on the packaging.
🐻: …
🐨: Whaddya say, Jimdog?
🐻: … But those are designed for my face… they’re structured perfectly to my features… we can’t change the structure, it won’t hold the books right… your ears are on the side of your head, no no, that won’t work at all.
🐨: I didn’t say “my ears”, Jim. I said “my face”.
🐻: Your face? On my bear package?
🐨: Yyyyyup. Have a think about it, J. I’m off to the beach. Seeya, mate.
🐻: Happy Days, Barry.
