Emotional Eating

This week I wanted to encourage a food and emotions check in. I regularly do this with my clients and it’s a powerful way to check in and see what’s really going on within. Often, we reach for foods for emotional reasons and when we become of aware of this, we have the power to change it.

Spend 3 days this week writing down what you eat and beside each meal write down how you are feeling.

After the 3 days you will begin to notice a pattern.
(If the pattern is not quite clear do it for another few days.)

Through awareness you can catch yourself and take a deep breath and I always say to myself

Are you hungry or are you just eating for the sake of it?

Then I can reach deeper and notice if there is something more going on: Maybe sadness, tiredness, anxiety, frustration…

Our choices around food should empower and energize us and not lead us to feel guilty.
