June is sleep month and we are very excited to share some great tips and solutions to your sleep concerns or just some ideas on how to get a more restful sleep. Our Zen sleep will be on offer all month at 20% off so don’t miss out on this amazing offer.

We have an innate sense of what good health looks like, but we have been misled into accepting a lower bar and into thinking we need to patch together a normal experience of functioning. Just like trees need strong roots to live a healthy life above ground where we can see them. For us, sleep is akin to our roots upon which a healthy life is built. Granted these days sleep can be seen as an interruption, but the real scourge is sleeplessness.

In Japan about 40 percent of the population sleeps less than six hours a night and public dozing is socially acceptable! Around 350 B.C Aristotle wrote an essay “On sleep and sleeplessness” wondering why we do it? For the next 2300 years no one had a good answer but today with imaging machines we are approaching a convincing answer to Aristotle. Sleep is vital for our mental and physical health and when our circadian rhythm breaks down, research shows us, we are at increased risk for illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia.

This month we are fully focused on sleep and our webinar on June 24th will include how to sleep better and understand sleep and the effects on our overall health.


Bath and epsom salts with lavender

A nice soak in the bath can be a welcome part of a healing sleep routine. Adding Epsom salts with some lavender essential oil helps us to shed old energies and release what no longer serves us. Our energy is then also renewed and replenished by the healing power of the water. As we are nearly 70% water holding a strong intention for renewing our cells in the bath is all you need. This helps you to leave the stress of the day behind ready for a peaceful night’s sleep.


A cup of chamomile tea can calm and
soothe before sleep

One theory as to why Chamomile is so effective is that it contains a flavonoid compound called apigenin that binds to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain, which then has a sedative effect inside the brain. This is what causes people to feel sleepy. It makes it great for those who have a hard time relaxing before falling asleep.
