The long and short of it.

Some quick things for an abridged week.

Hi there,

Good Monday to you. We hope you had a relaxing weekend. Here are a few things for a brief week, a lengthy weekend, and the start of July.

Short things for short weeks:

  • These haikus by Etheridge Knight—short in syllables, not on excellence.
  • Cortados—short in volume, not on flavor. Here’s how to make one
  • The Caitlin shorts—short in length, not in ease. We’re currently wearing ours while lying on the floor. Pairs well with lying on the floor.

Long things for long weekends:

  • The textured and light-as-air Medina dress—perfect for weekend strolls or last-minute elopements.
  • Long Island iced teas. In full honesty, we had never read a recipe for one of these before, and now, we’re slightly terrified. We might make this gimlet instead.
  • Bob Dylan’s new song, “Murder Most Foul,” clocking in at a cool 17 minutes long.

Some things for this long weekend in particular:

  • Hamilton is coming to Disney Plus on July 3rd, which means we have Friday-night plans for the first time in a long time. Rachel Cargle highlighted how the musical’s message is more important than ever here
  • If you happen to be out West, Nari Ward’s We the People is opening at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (with strict security measures in place). We’ve mentioned Ward before, but his intense and memorable sculptures are worth a repeat in this case.
  • If you’re looking for an isolated escape, this site finds private lands that you can rent for camping purposes. We have our eye on this leafy hideaway

And lastly: A proper start to July yesterday, with a double rainbow across New York City—just in time for Pride celebrations. Image care of @kirit143
