Hey ModiFamily,

After 8 great years, we're turning off the lights, for a little while at least. Modify will be back - and yes, probably better! But for the next while we're going on hiatus.

The sentimental bit
8 years! We've been doing this since 2010. A lot has changed in that timeframe. Personally, there are 5 new kids between Ashil and Aaron and Gary (and many more from the wider Modify team, including our amazing lawyer Doug). David got married. About 50 (more?) people worked at Modify, including a bunch of amazing interns. We raised thousands of dollars for some great nonprofits. We made over 250,000 watches. We were fortunate to partner with some amazing artists. The ModiFamily (you) designed or named hundreds of our watches. People used watches in wedding parties. Baseball teams had us place game-used dirt into watches. We were in Self Magazine three months in a row. The Today Show 3x and Good Morning America 2x. Wendy Williams, Rachael Ray, Ellen (!!!!). The Cavs won the championship (we're taking credit). We did a Kickstarter campaign and an Indiegogo campaign (that one, um, kinda failed). We introduced the world to print-on-demand watches. We were copied by a bunch of companies (industrial design, graphic design), which was pretty darn cool. We launched t-shirts and phone cases and other products, only to shut that down after 6 months. We moved to 9 offices (apartment, 2nd street (3 offices), 5th street (2 offices), howard street, 5th street, san jose.

And we had amazing interactions with tens of thousands of customers - seriously, the best part of Modify was interacting with all of you. Like, no joke. The idea behind Modify was to build (physical) products people loved. We wanted you to Show Your Colors (our tagline, though you probably didn't notice).
