We've been digging around to make a few website changes in time for Earth Day so that now, every time you book, you can choose to offset your trip with a donation to our conservation partners: the World Land Trust and the Blue Marine Foundation.
With their help, we've calculated as closely as we can to balance short, mid-, and long-haul journeys with meaningful investments to their extensive protection programs across land and sea – all in a couple of clicks. If you're feeling particularly generous, you can donate any time you likeand we also donate a portion of every gift card sale, too.… It's a small step, but hopefully it's one that adds up to make a big difference.
For more than 30 years, the World Land Trust has been dedicated to protecting natural ecosystems across the world. Its Buy An Acre project – where £100 donations directly purchase a plot of land for a lifetime of protection – was set up in the face of rampant habitat loss and has so far secured nearly 2.5m acres of threatened territory.
Its pioneering work has already succeeded in creating two of the world's largest marine reserves (in the Indian and Pacific oceans) as well as the largest fully protected marine reserve in the Atlantic, an area the size of France. The ultimate aim is for for 30% of the world's ocean to be protected by 2030 – and you can help.
A bountiful biodynamic farm and a next level field-to-fork philosophy helped Marle, chef Sky Gyngell's acclaimed restaurant at Hampshire's Heckfield Place, land a coveted green Michelin star in February. And it's a sustainable ethos that supports every facet of the hotel's hospitality…
It being Earth Day an' all, it felt like a good time to sit down with Jeff Smith, VP of sustainability at eco-luxury pioneers Six Senses to talk clean energy, community outreach, the principles of a considered approach and a whole lot more.
The fell mountains and ribbon lakes of Cumbria are a draw for nature lovers the world over. You'll find some of the country's best locally sourced menus, too. Naturally, we know the best places to bed down between bursts of the Great Outdoors.
