Jonathan Simkhai’s namesake label may have only launched a few seasons ago, but a strong dedication to fashion is hardly something new for the New York based designer. At age 14, Simkhai assisted as a buyer for a fashion retailer. From there, Simkhai went on to study at Parsons and FIT, and in 2010 debuted his first collection. For pre-fall, OAK is excited to be offering three coveted styles from the designer. The a-line color block leather tee in navy, black, and teal is a refined take on a classic, and features a discreet back zipper, while the more fitted seamed sweater features subtle, yet distinct piping details, in a comfortable, breathable knit. Last but not least, the utility check sweatshirt in blue with contrast sleeves is reminiscent of classic pieces from past decades, yet feels simultaneously completely relevant. With his contemporary designs, that blur traditional gender lines and play with sexuality, Jonathan Simkhai’s collection is right at home in OAK stores.
