Cycling is huge. It’s not just a hobby, it’s a multi-billion dollar industry.

In fact, it’s estimated that the cycling industry will be worth $44.4 billion by 2022.

Like we said, huge. Want in on the action yourself? We’ve got just the product for you.

This week on Product Watch we’ll be talking about the gel bike seat. It’s a handy little product that simply slips over a regular bike seat to provide extra comfort for cyclists.

Seriously, if you’ve ever been cycling for a long period of time you know how much you need a comfortable seat.

And if you’re not a cyclist? Just check the Google Trends data for these products and you’ll see why you need to sell these products.

Plus, products that fall into the sports niche are always great ideas. That’s because the ‘Sports’ category of products is consistently in the top 5 most popular niches for Oberlo users.

Gel bike seats are pretty fairly priced – you can source them for around $2.50 from suppliers on Oberlo.

Now, there are more expensive versions of these products out there, so we do recommend placing a couple of test orders with different suppliers to figure out which products you like best.

Our market research found that these products are typically sold from between $10 and $25 online, so we advise choosing a price in this range for your own products too.

Honestly, pricing these products at the lower end of that range, so between $10 and $15 is probably ideal.

Unfortunately, ePacket delivery isn’t available for these products – that’s the shipping method that we typically recommend dropshippers to use. That said, the shipping options are still quite cheap for these products. You’re looking at around $1.50 to get these products shipped to the United States.

As always, it’s a good idea to absorb the cost of shipping into your listed price, and then offer free shipping to your customers. Sure, you’ll lose some profit on each sale, but the free shipping will help you to convert more customers, so it’s a fair trade off.

Next up, you need to figure out who you’re selling these products to.

Pricing Stats
  • Product Cost: $2.50 – $5
  • Recommended Retail Price: $10 – $15
We highly recommend using Facebook Ads when it comes to marketing gel bike seats.

Try to use Facebook Video Ads here, as it’ll really help you to demonstrate the true value that these products can bring to shoppers.

And, as always, it’s super important that you get these products in front of the right people.

The good thing about targeting people who are interested in sports is that they’re often pretty passionate. And passionate people are perfect for entrepreneurs, because they’re the ones who are likely to buy things.

Plus, with these products you’ve already got quite a predefined audience of people – people who love cycling.

When you’re building your Facebook target audiences out, try targeting shoppers in the USA first. If you wanted to be super specific with your targeting, try targeting people in Colorado, Utah, Vermont, and Oregon – all of those states have shown particular interest in cycling, according to Google Trends.

Of course, you don’t need to target your ads specifically to the USA. The UK, Canada, and Australia are all great options when you’re launching Facebook ads for these countries too.

If you’re interested in exploring this data further, feel free to click on the ‘Google Trends’ button at the top of this email.

Oh, and as always, we’ve left an example Facebook target audience below that you can use to start marketing these products today.
