10 Things We’re Doing Besides Being Adults

Recently I learned that sometimes the only thing you can do to mollify a panic attack over whether or not you’ve remembered to turn off the iron is to call and make sure your renters insurance is still current. (And then maybe buy this.) In doing so, I also learned that 60% of team Of a Kind doesn’t even have renter’s insurance, and I was like “WHAT?!” You guys: It is relatively cheap, it covers things way beyond what you might think, and at the end of the day, you never know when your neighbor is going to fall asleep with an Ellio’s pizza smoking in the oven. While we’re here: Michelle Obama emailed me last week and told me to tell you about a website called Healthcare.gov and a deadline approaching on March 31. Health insurance should also come in handy during that Ellio’s incident. —claire

Erica's things:

  • Dying over the rejected headlines on Heds Will Roll—each one’s at least as punny as the blog’s name.

  • Archiving this Food & Wine California road-trip guide in my brain under “Summer 2015.”

  • Embracing the magical powers of crème fraîche. If you don’t believe me, try dumping it on some radishes, ok?

  • Testing out the app Cover, which lets you to pay your restaurant bill as easily as you would an Uber ride.

  • Reading everything there is to read about Friday Night Lights ever. Favorites: this and this and this. (We’ve got some Tim and Lyla on Of a Kind too, naturally.)

Claire's things:

  • Marveling at the sheer genius of this cutting board—perfect for someone like me who tends to leave the kitchen a disaster zone after cooking.

  • Mixing up my workout routine at The Fitness Guru in Dumbo, Brooklyn. It’s the first gym with classes that actually keep me coming back on the regular.

  • Putting the $100-per-night Steep Ravine Cabins on my list of places to visit should I ever develop even the most basic of camping skills.

  • Gifting this absolutely gorgeous book of James Rosenquist paintings to my guy for his birthday.

  • Wearing the Lululemon Skinny Will Pant nearly every hour of every weekend. It may technically be an exercise garment, but I will rock it to brunch with no regrets.
