OUR TRAVELIN’ GAL DIARIES
Erica and I are both gearing up to get out of Dodge (er, New York) this week. Erica’s heading to Copenhagen, and I’m off to Minneapolis—which, if you think about it, are not such different places: They’re both major cities with heavy Scandinavian influences and unbearably cold winters. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway—because jealousy is not a cute look on me. Below, all the nonsense we’re getting into before we hit the road. —claire
+ Appreciating one of the most entertaining things in New York, the Central Park Dance Skaters, whenever I want, thanks to their Flickr group.
+ Chowing down on raw corn. This salad, courtesy of Real Simple, is where it’s at.
+ Getting down with the appealingly over-the-top vibe of this hotel outside of Lisbon, Areias Do Seixo. All solar and geothermal energy!
+ Trying out Simple banking. The app is great, and the pretty design doesn’t hurt—not one bit.
+ Packing for vacation and appreciating, for the 126th time, how hard-working my Lo & Sons O.G. travel bag is.
+ Enjoying the new single from David Lynch and Lykke Li. It’s basically what you’d expect from two individuals who’ve really nailed the whole “beautifully haunting” thing.
+ FINALLY finding a seamless slip that doesn’t suck ℅ Commando. And just like that, the number of wearable dresses in my closet has doubled.
+ Allowing my life to be ruined by a horribly addicting (yet aesthetically pleasing) game called Dots—it’s as if Damien Hirst and Milton Bradley collaborated on a mobile app.
+ Discovering a 30-minute gem of a doc on HBO GO which proves that artist James Rosenquist is as charming as he is talented.
+ Gearing up for a quick trip to the Twin Cities, where my favorite spots can all be found on the same block: The Bachelor Farmer for food, Marvel Bar for drinks (they serve Cheetos as bar snacks!), and Askov Finlayson for cool duds.
