The clothing and interiors brands to know...
In a world over-run by fast fashion, slow and thoughtful artistry informs Luca Faloni,
a highly revered 'Made in Italy' label.
Turin-born Faloni's frustration at the lack of high-quality menswear on offer led him to launch his own brand, predicated upon bringing high quality Italian designs to the rest of the world.
The result is an offering of luxurious, long-lasting staples that include shirts, knitwear, trousers
and shorts rendered in the finest fabrics, as well as timeless accessories.
From timeless Chelsea boots to sleek leather sneakers: all of Velasca's footwear is made following
the centuries-old tradition of Italian craftsmanship.
Artisans in the district of Montegranaro craft the shoes using the finest French calf leather,
along with leather soles for classic styles or innovative Vibram rubber soles for casual shoes.
These are shoes that are built to last – in terms of construction as well aesthetic: there's a refined elegance
to each of the styles that lends them an inherent timelessness and versatility.
With comfort and functionality at its core, independent label Wax London creates versatile clothing
that's designed to work in harmony with the modern man's lifestyle.
Its workwear-inspired staples are characterised by the brand's signature combination
of quintessential British design and Scandi-style functionality.
The majority of Wax's pieces are made in London, using sustainably produced fabrics and natural dyeing techniques. Expect utilitarian-style essentials like overshirts, heavyweight tees and comfy drawstring trousers.
Independent design label Hem was established in 2014 upon the basis of developing
a new generation of furniture, accessories and lighting that's functional, fuss-free and stylish.
Hem translates to 'home': its key focus is always on what makes a house a home –
from cosy sofas and ultra-soft woollen blankets to statement floor lamps and sleek bar stools.
Unlike many major furniture labels, Hem draws attention to the people behind the pieces. It works with some of the world's most talented designers, each with varying design styles and approaches,
to bring innovative design to the masses.
With a distinctly minimalist design ethos, London-based label Form&Thread is known for its contemporary take on workwear-inspired garments, including worker jackets, overshirts and trousers.
Details are pared-back, with anything extraneous removed, allowing the premium materials and elevated cut of each meticulously made piece to shine.
Since it was first founded, Form&Thread has prided itself on creating pieces that will be as stylish today as they will be a decade from now, so if you’re looking to build a capsule wardrobe, it's a great place to start.
