Hey Shockers,

Happy #MotivationMonday!

Over the last several days, we've talked a lot about staying on track with your goals. Part of sticking with your habits and making progress means adjusting to your reality.

Life happens; success is not always a straight line.

And in just a few days, we'll be halfway done with the year.

Half. way. done.

Can you believe it? While 2020 has been anything but 'normal,' you still have six full months to make things happen.

Which brings us to today's important message.

Dreams vs. goals.

We all have things we want to do or accomplish. Maybe you want to pay off your debt or quit smoking. Or perhaps you want to stop cursing.

At any given time, you probably have 50+ things you want to do. Travel. Start a business. Write a book.

But without an actionable plan, all the things you want to do are considered "dreams."

Of course, you don't always have the time or ability to reach all your dreams at once. You have to choose which dreams are most important to you.

The problem is, most of us stay stuck in the dream state. We continue adding to the list of things we want to do without making a plan to get there.

During a recent goal workshop hosted by Complice, they defined a goal as "A recognizable desired state in the future, that causes someone to act differently in the present to realize it." And it's a great definition.

If you aren't changing your behavior now to reach that 'dream,' it will continue to remain that, just a dream.

Dreams are nice to have, but without taking action, you're going to remain stuck.

As we pass the halfway mark of the year, do an audit of your current ambitions and goals. Are you stuck in a dream phase? Or have you mapped out how to turn those dreams into goals?

If you're struggling to get where you want to go, make sure you're not getting your goals and dreams mixed up. Do you have an actionable plan? What do you need to do now to reach your desired state?

If you want to travel more (dream), are you setting aside money now for a plane ticket (goal)?

If you want to write a book (dream), are you setting aside time to write each day (goal)?

If you want to quit smoking (dream), use Pavlok to help you reduce cravings(goal)?

Spend some time this week writing a list of everything you want to accomplish for the rest of the year, then write down exactly how you're going to do it.

Stop dreaming and start working towards your goals instead.
