the 5 best things on sustainable living from around the interwebs delivered to you before brunch

HAPPY WEEKEND! I'm Kathryn, I'm the editor at Pela Case, and I'm comin' atcha with five best things in Sustainability this week...

If you're heading to brunch with your friends this morning, you'll be prepared to dish on all of the latest and greatest good news happening for our planet.

1. ECO PICK OF THE WEEK

Looking for a chic way to update your look for the cooler months? Can I recommend this zero waste palette?

A makeup artist used the aether beauty palette when I was on a modeling shoot a few months ago and I fell in love with how clean and eco-friendly it was that I bought one for summer colors and just got this one for the winter months!

2. BE BETTER

Looking for a few ways to be a better activist around your town? Look no further! I've rounded up a few ways for you to be more active in spreading the cause along with 8 activities to get you started.

I feel like the word activism can scare people away, but it's nothing to be frightened about! It's simply the idea of creating change in your own life and spreading that message to those around you.

CREATE CHANGE

3. PEAT MOSS

My 9th-grade biology teacher loved peat. The skeletons in our class were named Peat Moss and Peat Bog. And, I have to say after learning more about it, I'm a pretty big fan of peat too.

Did you know that peat stores twice as much carbon as all the world's forests? 80% of the peat bogs in Scotland are considered damaged so Scotland is working to reverse that!

4. I LIKE TO RIDE MY BICYCLE

If you've been to NYC, then you know there can be some major traffic jams and lots of street noise with cars clogging the roads.

In order to try and break car culture, NYC is stepping in with some bike plans. They're planning to build more than 250 new bike lanes!

5. KEEP IT IN THE GROUND!

The UK has put fracking plans on hold. All fracking has been immediately halted until further notice after growing concerns about pollution risk and earthquakes. This is pretty exciting news since the PM's original stance was, "leave no stone unturned, or unfracked.”
