How to floss correctly

To floss or not to floss - is that a question?!?

It turns out it is for 50% of the population who don’t floss on a daily basis. And worse yet, a whopping 30% NEVER floss.

And while that may make your plaque-scraping, cavity-filling dentist very happy, it will make you very UNHAPPY when you discover you have bleeding, infected gums, plaque, and gum disease.

Now let’s make sure you are flossing correctly - because flossing incorrectly can cause gum damage and gum disease. So be sure to follow these steps!

  1. We recommend alternating flossing BEFORE and AFTER you brush.  In the morning, floss AFTER you brush.  At night, floss BEFORE you brush.  Flossing before you brush will remove plaque and tartar from between the teeth and you will brush it away.  Flossing AFTER you brush will carry the minerals from your toothpowder between your teeth and help strengthen the enamel.
  2. Gently guide the floss between the gum and the tooth.
  3. Use a “C” shaped motion to clean above and below the gum line and towards both teeth.
  4. 4 - Repeat for each tooth and don't forget to floss behind the LAST tooth.
