Welcome along to 'Our Adventures #1'
Whether you have been with us for years, or this is the first newsletter we've sent you - I'd like to say a massive thank you for being part of our adventure!
We have used these extremely challenging past 18 months as an opportunity to reflect on every aspect of Project X and the direction that we want to travel in (pun fully intended!). We've made improvements throughout - with plenty more still to come.
These newsletter emails were one of those areas - I get so many emails from different companies trying to sell me all sorts of things I don't need. Most get deleted, some get read. But it's the ones that give me something interesting to read or inspire me that get my attention and ensures that I remember that company when I need something later on.
We've always tried to do this with our own emails. Not just sending you some nice products that we think might be useful - but by also bringing you blogs and news articles, either our own or from other websites, to inspire your adventures and help you out along the way. So here we are to relaunch our monthly emails!
Maybe you'll find this interesting, maybe not - but please let me know by replying to this email if there is anything that we can do to make these emails more useful and relevant to you.
Local Adventures
This past year has seen us doing local adventures more than ever - whether it was finding a new place to walk the dog or looking for new places to visit for a socially distanced catch up with friends or family - we've all seen our local areas in a different way and Katie has looked back at some of our favourite places in Oxfordshire and Berkshire to go!
Scouts and Guides supporting Wildlife Conservation in Tanzania
In a strange way, this time has also given us lots of new opportunities. None more so than our partnership with the Kilmobero Valley Ornithological Centre in Tanzania.
Since the centre's founder Sebastian and I met in Tanzania back in 2009, we have always kept in touch so we could explore our plan to eventually run expeditions to the centre.
However, with the global effects of the pandemic stopping international travel and closing the centre's main source of income - volunteers, we worked with them to find a solution. Keep reading this email to find out more about what we were able to do by making the most of what has now become everyday technology!
What's next for Project X?
As we in the UK take our steps back towards normality, we are looking towards our future. Our plan is to continue to expand our Kit Store with more specialist outdoor equipment and we will be starting to work on running adventures and expeditions initially in the UK and in Europe over the next couple of years.
Hopefully, as we continue to grow and the world opens back up we will be able to expand this - but you, as the reader of our emails, will be the first to know as this plan comes together.
In the meantime, thank you again for your support and please do reply to this message if you have any travel or kit related questions or if you have any thoughts on how we can make these emails more useful!
Happy Adventuring!
George
